In 2023, Dr. Coble merged the practice’s two locations to a state-of-the art facility at 2525 E. Sangamon Ave.
In May 2024, Dr. Joan Saner Reeder, who had worked with Dr. Coble for 23 years, purchased the practice from her mentor. She continues its commitment to providing Springfield with the best in veterinary care.
Our hospital has the newest digital radiography, best ultrasound equipment and the latest laser technology available.
We also have a fully stocked on-site pharmacy, an online pharmacy service and a complete laboratory that enables us to get immediate diagnostic information when your pet is sick or injured.
We have six veterinarians on staff: Dr. Joan Saner Reeder, Dr. Sarah Smith, Dr. Sandra Gilmore, Dr. Bree Chamberlain, and Dr. Anna Rathgeb, who all work full-time (with Dr. Chamberlain starting full-time in October), and Dr. Martha Armour, our only part-time doctor.

Took my old kitty (he’s at least 10 y/o) for his new client visit today. Everyone was so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Tyler the vet tech was so sweet with Grizzly and did an amazing job answering all my questions. Another tech walked in at the end because she wanted to meet Grizzly and give him some pets. I can’t recall the Vet’s name but she took the time to explain a future procedure to me in detail and also answered all my questions. Such a relief to find a vet close to home where everyone truly treats your animal like their own! Couldn’t be more impressed with the quality of care!

We were extremely pleased with our Schatzi’s boarding experience. We could tell that the staff really care about all their charges! At other places he has been to he would be so nervous and would stop eating. Here at Coble he had to have felt love and safety because after the 5 days we could tell he had ate well. With being only 5lbs we always worry about his eating. Coble will be our go to for all boarding in the future!

I recently had to board my dog, Trinity, and was looking for a new boarding facility since I had become extremely dissatisfied with the facility that I normally use. A couple friends recommended the Howliday Inn and Suites at the Sangamon Avenue Veterinary Clinic. I made a preliminary visit to view the premises and came away quite impressed, so I immediately booked a reservation for Trinity into one of the suites. I also scheduled a bath for her on the day of pickup. The staff and technicians were very professional, friendly, and accommodating.When I picked up Trinity, she smelled wonderfully clean and fresh from her bath, and her bedding was clean and unsoiled. Trinity made me promise that I will never board her anywhere else. I'll keep that promise!

We have been going here for over 13 years. We always appreciate the thorough reports and options we are given by the doctors. The reception staff and management are great. The top notch customer service starts from the first phone call all the way to check out. We even get a follow up call the next day if we have had a sick dog to find out if we have any new questions, problems and how the dog is doing. Our dogs enjoy seeing the staff which to us says everything!!! Thanks to everyone!

I have been a client of Coble animal Hospital for over 20 years! Today, my little Angel Bear Paw Paw was showing signs of a urinary track infection. Dr. Smith was so kind to work us in her busy schedule and allowed a urinary sample to be checked and within an hour I got a phone call from her and the results that my little dog had a urinary track infection. She then had a prescription for me to pick up. Dr. Smith went beyond and above today to help my little friend thank you so much Dr. Smith! Initially I spoke with Emily to get the ball rolling and Everett and Angie completed all necessary paperwork and check out! It is reassuring to know that this veterinary continues the high level of quality care for all animals that come into their establishment! The doctors and the staff at Coble Animal Hospital are A Blessing for my little Angel Bear Paw Paw and myself! A veterinary staff that puts their hearts in ALL they do! Thanks Ever So Much!!!
